Middle School Athletics
Athletic Fee
Rockingham County Schools requires a $40 athletic fee for students participating in school sports programs. This mandatory annual fee must be paid by students regardless of the number of sports they play. It helps cover the costs associated with maintaining athletic facilities, purchasing sports equipment, and funding transportation for away games. The fee also contributes to paying for referees, coaches, and other essential personnel involved in the sports programs. By collecting this fee, the school district ensures that it can provide a comprehensive athletic experience for all students, supporting both the safety and success of its sports teams. This fee is typically collected at the beginning of the sports season and is necessary for students to be eligible to participate in school athletics.

Athletic Insurance Information
The Rockingham County Schools Board of Education has purchased accident insurance for athletes. All athletes in grades 6-12 are covered while practicing for, competing in or traveling to and from as representative of the school and under the direct supervision of a coach, in any athletic activities under the regulations and jurisdiction of the school. The policy is a limited benefit policy and is secondary to all other insurance.
