Prerequisite: Earth Science Honors/instructor approval

Participate in an in-depth study of the scientific method and its relation to the science of biology. Study hypotheses formation, experimental design, collection and analysis of data, and the literature of biology. Apply skills learned to experiments in microbiology, animal behavior, plant and animal physiology. Participate in laboratory work and make use of technology in scientific research.

Earth Science

Learn the function of the earth's system with emphasis placed on matter, energy, crystal dynamics, environmental awareness, materials availability and the cycles that circulate energy and material through the earth system. Earth or Environmental Science is a graduation requirement. 

Earth Science Honors

Prerequisite: Instructor approval

Investigate all areas of earth science, including plate tectonics, the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, and the atmosphere. Conduct investigations to better understand how the earth relates to the solar system and the rest of the universe. Conduct outside investigations and complete outside readings. 

Chemistry

Study the classification and changes in matter, descriptive chemistry, periodic properties of elements, stoichiometry kinetic molecular theory, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, acids, bases, and salts. Participate in laboratory experiments and problem solving.

Chemistry Honors

Prerequisite: Math 1/Instructor approval

Study the classification and changes in matter, descriptive chemistry, periodic properties of elements, stoichiometry kinetic molecular theory, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, acids, bases, and salts. Complete a major project, cover special topics, and proceed at an advanced pace and more depth.

Anatomy Honors

Prerequisite: Biology and Chemistry 

Study the structure and function of the human body from the molecular level to the level of the whole organism.  Conduct independent research, and complete an outside science project.

Advanced Placement Environmental Science

Prerequisite: Earth Science and Biology 

Study the scientific principles, concepts, and processes required to understand the interrelationships of the world.  Students will be able to analyze environmental problems and be able to evaluate the possible dangers of these problems.  Students will also have an understanding of possible solutions and their benefits and risks associated with environmental problems facing planet earth. Students not taking the AP exam will earn Honors weight.

Advanced Placement Environmental Science

Prerequisite: Math 2, Chemistry

Course provides students with a college-level foundation to support future advanced course work in chemistry.  Students cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based investigations, as they explore topics such as:  atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium. Created by the AP Chemistry Development Committee, the course curriculum is compatible with many Chemstry courses in colleges and universities.
