Dear Monroeton Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. We are excited to welcome our students, staff and families back to school as we “saddle up for success.” I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and support the students, staff, and families of such an amazing community.

I am beginning my 22nd year as an educator, with 20 of those being in Rockingham County. I began my teaching career in 2003 at Draper Elementary School and I also taught at Williamsburg Elementary School. I served as Assistant Principal at Holmes Middle School and Monroeton Elementary School. During the 2022-2023 school year, I served as Assistant Principal at Pilot Elementary with Guilford County Schools.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in education from Appalachian State University and my Master’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. I furthered my education at Appalachian State University where I earned my administrative degree.

On a personaI note, I reside in Reidsville with my husband and two children who both attend Rockingham County Schools. I look forward to continuing the partnerships established as we continue to support a nurturing and supportive environment for our students.

With Mustang Pride,

Mrs. Slade

Hello Mustang Family! I am a native of Eden, NC, have two daughters (Hailie, 24 and Leah, 14), a son-in-law (Mark), and a one year old granddaughter (Kynslei Jude).  I graduated from Greensboro College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, from North Carolina A&T State University in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, added K-12 AIG Licensure in 2019, and UNCG with a Master of School Administration in 2024.

My career in education began in 2007 at Draper Elementary School as a teacher's assistant. I then taught grades 3-5 at Williamsburg and Douglass Elementary Schools from 2009-2020 before becoming the Instructional Coach/AIG teacher at Lincoln Elementary School through the 2022-2023 school year. I am currently in my second year as Assistant Principal here at Monroeton.

My passion for elementary school comes from my own elementary school teachers that helped instill a foundational love for learning in me. One teacher and two teacher assistants in particular provided not only academic support but also social and emotional support that inspired me to pay it forward. Nurturing children and building positive relationships early on sets the stage for lifelong motivation and success. I always wanted to be the teacher that students positively remember. As an Assistant Principal, I am excited to make an even larger impact in Rockingham County Schools by inspiring teachers to desire the same and grow our students to their utmost potential!”

I am very honored and excited to be a part of the Mustang family as I serve the Monroeton Elementary students, staff, and community as the assistant principal this school year.
