Monroeton Elementary is a Title I, PreK-5 school with a traditional calendar.  The school offers a diverse selection of programs that support the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS). These programs include an Exceptional Children's Program (Resource/Inclusion and Speech/Language), Academically and Intellectually Gifted, Music, Art, Technology, and Physical Education.

NC Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) guides our instructional and curriculum framework.  It is a multi-tiered framework which promotes school improvement through engaging, research-based academic and behavioral practices.  NC MTSS employs a systems approach using data-driven problem solving to maximize growth for all.  Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system is the behavioral framework of MTSS.

In grades K-5 teachers use a research-based program using balanced literacy. K-2 uses a phonics program called "Fundations". Reading instruction is enhanced by programs such as AR (Accelerated Reader) and Reading Buddies.  Monroeton School strives to educate the whole child by offering a Character Education and Nutrition Program. A safe school environment is supported by a school-wide safety program and county-supported programs.

Our school has many extra-curricular opportunities.  All students are encouraged to participate in these varied activities.  Activities include service clubs, cultural arts clubs, community service projects on each grade level, academic activities, environmental clubs, as well as social and sports activities.
