Huge congratulations to Ms. Laura Carter from RECHS for being named Rockingham County Schools' Principal of the Year! 🏆 Your dedication and leadership inspire us all. Here's to more success and excellence in education!

Instead of hitting the repost button on violent or harmful content, let’s report it. Sharing only adds fear and stress, but reporting brings accountability. Together, we can make social media safer!

If you see a social media post threatening violence, don’t repost it—Report It! The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Let’s work together to keep our schools safe. #ReportNotRepost

RCS and law enforcement aware of the continued social media threats being reposted. These threats are not directed toward any Rockingham County School or any school whatsoever. Law enforcement has deemed the posts as not credible or a hoax.
#Report, Don't Repost

Due to the heavy rainfall, localized flooding and isolated road closures, Rockingham County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, September 18th, Staff are to report at normal time, unless unsafe to do so.

Rock Middle families: We are aware of a post that has been circulating that has caused concern. RCS was made aware of this post yesterday and found it not to be related to our school or district. The following message was sent out last night to all families by our Director of Safety and Dr. Hardin also posted on dojo. However, we realized some of you may not have gotten the call and we are working to try and remedy that!
Here is the message that was sent out: "Good evening Rockingham County Schools families. I am reaching out today regarding a concerning trend that has emerged across the state. Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in social media posts involving threats of weapons and violence against students, staff, and schools. While we want to assure you that Rockingham County Schools have received no specific threats at this time, based on current trends, we must anticipate the possibility of such posts occurring in the future. Please know that any posts threatening harm, hate, injury or violence are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The safety of our students, staff and school communities remains our highest priority. When we are presented with information of such threats, Rockingham County Schools (RCS) will take swift and decisive action. Discipline will be administered according to our Student Code of Conduct and RCS Discipline Guide, and all instances will be referred to our law enforcement partners for investigation. Threats made via social media, even if intended as a "joke," can result in serious legal consequences under North Carolina General Statutes. We encourage all families to take the following actions to support our school safety efforts: Report Threats Immediately: If you or your child come across social media posts or text messages that suggest harm to others, we urge you to take a screenshot of the content and report it as soon as possible. You can provide this information to your school, the district office, the School Resource Officer, and/or law enforcement. Additionally, you can submit reports anonymously using the Say Something app. Discuss the Consequences: We ask that you have an important conversation with your child(ren) about the seriousness of these threats and the consequences of participating in or sharing harmful content online. It’s critical for students to understand that these actions are not just against school rules but can also result in legal action. We deeply appreciate your support and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or your child’s school administration. Thank you for your partnership in keeping Rockingham County Schools safe."
