Once again we've been fortunate to be selected by the NC Museum of Natural Science to take part in their Cretaceous Creatures program. Rockingham County wasn't even the eligible counties this year but when I reached out to them they still let us do the program which is a testament to the job previous classes have done.
Today students learned how to use the online key to identify fossils. Tomorrow students will look through sediment samples to find fossils and then work with their group to use the key to ID what they found. It's a challenge because they are looking at microfossils which means the teeth and vertebrae students are looking for are the size of Lincon's head on a penny.
