Media Center Mission

Mission:  Working together with Stoneville staff members, our library program strives to educate our students with the use of effective and ethical information in a global society. We encourage critical thinking by empowering our readers to become independent with equitably accessible media sources open to all users.

About Me: My name is Molithia Spencer, a.k.a. "The Library Girl!" This is my 29th year in public education and my 21st year at Stoneville Elementary! I taught in elementary classrooms for 22 years before becoming a school librarian. This is my 7th year as an elementary school librarian and I absolutely love it! I earned my Bachelor's Degree at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and my Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies, along with my Public Librarian Certification at East Carolina University. I am married and have two children. I also have a sweet puppy-girl named Molly. My hobbies are reading, crafting, and spending time with my family.

Media Center Rules

Please help your child remember the following Media Center guidelines for checking out books:

  • Kindergarten students check out 1 book each week. Most kindergarten students keep their books at school.

  • First grade students may check out up to 2 books at a time. Usually one fiction and one nonfiction book. However, if the student has 1 or more books overdue or missing he/she will need to find and return these books before checking out a new book.

  • Second grade through fifth grade students may check out up to three books at a time. However, if the student has 1 or more books overdue or missing he/she will be limited to checking out 1 book at a time until the missing book(s) are found and returned.

  • Exceptions can be made for special circumstances. Please speak with your school librarian.

  • Check-outs are for a 2-week period.

  • If a book is lost or damaged, there will be a fine.
