2016-2017:

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Band on their Superior Rating, the highest possible rating given, at the band festival on March 17 in Hillsborough.

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books Team: RCS 2017 Champions! 

Congratulations to the Lady Jags Basketball Team -- the Conference Tournament Champs for 2017!

Congratulations to Haley Sinclair and Sophie Wood on their first place win in the Special Talent category at the Jr. Beta Convention on February 6-7 in Greensboro.  They will compete at the National Jr. Beta Convention at Disney World in June!
 
Congratulations to the Jaguar Wrestling Team on being named conference champions with an undefeated 9-0 season!
 
Congratulations to Sophie Wood and Ethan Penny, 8th grade students, on their selection to All-District Band! 
 
RCMS exceeded expectations in growth and had one of the highest growth percentages in the state for the 2015-2016 school year!
 
RCMS received the Rockingham County Schools' 2016 Signature Schools of the Piedmont Triad Award. The Piedmont Triad Education Consortium presents awards each December to schools in its participating districts that have experienced significant improvement in the last 12 months. This is the second year in a row that RCMS has received this honor.
 
Congratulations to Mrs. Tatum, Library Media Specialist, on her $8,000 library grant from the James Patterson/Scholastic Reading Club Partnership.

2015-2016:
 
Congratulations Rockingham County Middle School for being awarded 1st Place in the No Child Hungry Challenge for Middle Schools across North Carolina. RCMS increased the number of students eating breakfast by fifty-four percent (54%).  Additionally, congratulations to Rockingham County Middle School for being awarded 2nd Place for the 2015-2016 North Carolina Breakfast Challenge held at the NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference. RCMS will receive $1,000 to support the school breakfast program.
 
Battle of the Books Team wins 1st Place in district competition and 5th place in Region 5 competition!
 
The Wrestling Team placed 2nd in the Conference Tournament.

Ashley W. and Meredith D. (6th graders) won 1st Place in Biological Science and Vince W. (6th grader) won 2nd Place in Biological Science in the RCS District Science Fair. 

Sophie Wood, 7th Grade student, was named to 5th Chair Tuba in the All-District Band.

Grace Barrios and Cason Pyrtle are named to the North Carolina Honors Chorus.

The RCMS Robotics Team, The Rock'n Robots, competed against 23 other teams in a state tournament qualifier on November 21 at Dudley High School in Greensboro and was one of nine teams selected to advance to the state tournament on January 24 at A & T State University.
 
The RCMS Choral Department was chosen to perform at the Artist Music Guild Awards program in Monroe, NC on November 14.  Choral students performed during the televised event singing with David Cook (Emmy and Grammy winner) and Bucky Covington (American Idol contestant).

The girls' softball team was named conference champs with an undefeated season (10-0).
 
 
2014-2015:
 
Claire Boaz won the 2015 RCS Superintendent's Art contest for the middle school level.
 
The Girls' Soccer Team won their 6th consecutive conference championship.
 
Giles Hunnings, 8th Grade social studies teacher, is named VFW Teacher of the Year.

Bronte Tatum, Library Media Specialist, named Outstanding Webmaster of the Year.

Battle of the Books team finished in 2nd Place in district competition.

Cason Pyrtle named to NC Music Association Middle School Honors Chorus

Congratulations to Bronte Tatum (Library Media Specialist) and RCMS on their $4,000 Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant to create a Jaguar Library Garden.

Twenty-six students made All-County Band.


2013-2014:
 
Golf Team had an undefeated season and won the conference championship!
 
Girls' Soccer Team won their 5th consecutive conference championship
 
Battle of the Books Team placed 4th overall in Region 5 competition!
 
Battle of the Books Team named RCS District Champs!
Wrestling Team named Conference Champs!
 
Girls' Basketball Team named Conference Champs!
 
26 students made All-County Band!
 
Matthew Chilton, 8th grader, won the 2013 Superintendent's Christmas Card Design Contest.
 
Sal Trotter, 7th grader, was selected to the US Olympic Soccer Development Program. This is an outstanding honor as it means Sal is in the top 1% of soccer players in his age group. 
 
Tennis Team named Conference Champs

Bryan Pyrtle was selected for the Music Educators Association Middle School Honors Chorus. Bryan was chosen out of 990 students in the state of North Carolina.
 
Mrs. Tatum, Library Media Specialist, won the 2013 Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Award for a collaborative project she completed in 2012.
