Mrs. Andrea Davis, School Counselor
Individual & Group Counseling Services
These services are available to students and their families to help them address issues and concerns that may disrupt student learning and progress or may cause them discomfort.
Brave New Girls Group
This group focuses on issues fifth grade girls face as they transition into adolescence and middle school. The group encourages the girls to become confident, freethinking and healthy young women. We will be following the format laid out in the book Brave New Girls by Jeanette Gadeberg.
Guidance Classes for Grades K-5
Guidance lessons are planned each month that incorporate character building from the foci trait word for the month to encourage and motivate students to be the best they can be academically, socially and to make good choices and decisions.
The Backpack Program is a collaborative effort with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Winston-Salem, Lowes Food, Reidsville Outreach Center and Williamsburg Elementary School. Chosen students are provided with a backpack of food each weekend.
The clothing closet is a service provided to assist children and families in our school and community with clothing, shoes and coats as needs arise.
Special Projects and Programs
Assemblies are planned each year to enhance and build character through social and community awareness. We celebrate "Red Ribbon Week" to encourage students to participate in healthy activities, eat healthy foods, and say "NO" to Drugs. Fun activities, contests and special guests are planned for this celebration. Special school-wide projects are coordinated each year as a way to demonstrate positive character traits (kindness to others, caring and sharing) and give back to the community. In previous years, students have collected cans for the Reidsville Outreach Center, participated in the Math-a-thon program to raise money for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and collected canned good items for the residents at the Carolina House nursing home facility in Reidsville, NC. We also offer a wonderful Christmas Sponsorship program to children and families of Williamsburg School. We are excited about the service and generosity that are shared each year by caring people in our community and the staff of Williamsburg School.
Career education is part of the North Carolina School Counseling Curriculum. Career Day is an effort to broaden career awaress and provide exposure to various careers awaiting our students in their futures.
